Anderwood

Anderwood - New Forest Walks and Picnic Areas

Anderwood is an ideal area for a good old fashioned family fun day out.

The closest village to Anderwood is stunning Burley with all its legends of local witchcraft this is also an ideal stop off to get a true taste of a New Forest village mostly unaffected by time and industrialisation.

Many families like to come to the forest for a nice relaxing picnic and barbecue and Anderwood is fortunate enough to be one of the locations you can set up a raised barbecue ( the others are Blackwater, Bolderwood, Burley, Hatchet Pond, Linford Bottom, Whitefield Moor, Wilverley Plain and Inclosure), although care must e taken to avoid fires as they can be devastating to the local habitat.

For larger groups Anderwood also has one of only three permanent barbecue sites for rent in the forest which is ideal for large groups and can accommodate up to bout 100 people.

As you can imagine with the popularity of the area the facility can get very booked up so it is wise to make your booking as early as possible.

If you miss out there are also facilities at Moors valley Country Park and Wilverly.

Disposable barbecues are not permitted here but can be used in the car park area's at Blackwater and Bolderwood.

you can go for a nice stroll in the Anderwood enclosure (which is also an off road cycling route across the forest.

Anderwood car park is also the meeting point for many walking groups and bird watchers and a few deer stalkers too.
