Description
Calshot Activities Centre is the South Coast’s largest outdoor centre, and is perfectly positioned for visitors to the New Forest area. Steeped in history, the centre is a “must-see” destination for any visitor to this part of the world.
Those with an adventurous spirit will be attracted to the wide range of water and land-based activities available. Calshot offers instructional courses in Dinghy Sailing, Windsurfing, Canoeing and Powerboating. On land the centre’s awesome climbing complex, the south’s only indoor velodrome, three indoor ski slopes and an archery range, all offer exciting challenges.
For the less energetic, the Sixteenth Century Calshot Castle, built by Henry VIII, provides a fascinating look at life on the Spit in days gone by, and is open daily from April to September. A leisurely walk along the Heritage Trail will allow visitors to trace the area’s history back further, as well as providing superb views of the listed buildings, the Isle of Wight and all manner of ocean-going craft on the Solent. The beach and adjacent Calshot Marshes, nature reserve are excellent places to spot the many different types of sea and wading birds which frequent the area.
For more information on what to do at Calshot, I would recommend you visit the
