Caravanning in the New Forest

New Forest Caravan Holidays - Caravan Sites in the National Park

New Forest caravan holidays can be an enjoyable and relaxing way to spend your holiday. There are several caravan sites in the forest, both privately owned and run by the Forestry Commission, where you can enjoy a holiday, weekend away or bank holiday break like no other throughout the year.

Caravan holidays in the New forest are not only restricted to the national park boundaries of course, and the county of Dorset nearby also has a wealth of attractions and Dorset camping and caravan sites to offer those wishing to see more of the sunny south coast.

For those of you planning to caravan in the forest area at the Forestry Commission caravan sites , there are several options to choose from. At these sites, you can either stay in motor homes, or caravans but you will also be sharing with the camping fraternity as well. The sites that take caravans and are Aldridge Hill, Ashurst, Denny Wood/Motley Wood, Holland Wood, Homely, Long beech and Connell, Round hill, and Setthorns.

These campsites run by the Forestry Commission are more likely to have less of the trapping of luxury, facilities and activities found at caravan parks that are privately owned. However, the plus side of course is that they are located deeper in the forest.

This of course means that you will be nearer to nature and closer to more hiking and walking trails, as well as many bike trails and areas in which to see wildlife that live in the forest.

Another place to caravan in the forest is Bashley Park, New Milton, Hampshire. This is an excellent place for Caravanning, as it is located at the edge of the forest on a 100 acre country estate. There are beaches at Barton on Sea and Milford on Sea not to far away, it also has a 3 par nine hole golf course, and an indoor play area for infants.

Outside the parks boundaries but not to far away is Christchurch, Christchurch also has a private caravan park, and as it is only 8 miles north of Bournemouth, if you have children in the family you will certainly want to visit this area as here you'll find the famous blue flag beaches of Bournemouth, Sandbanks and Boscombe. You can also visit the beach at Highcliffe, which is only 5 minutes away.

So in summary if you are looking for a peaceful no frills close to nature new forest caravan holiday within the national park boundaries look to the Forestry Commission sites. For more adventurous holidays with better activities the new forest static caravan private sites will be the best choice but if you want nature, sand and the hustle and bustle of nightlife then just outside the New Forest boundaries at one of the caravan parks in Dorset will be the most suitable caravan holiday for you.
