Fishing

Fishing In The New Forest

Sitting quietly by the river bank or bank of the lake can be totally refreshing and an excellent way to relax and unwind.

Fishing in the New Forest however is quite restricted and is only available at Hatchet Pond and Little Hatchet. You will need a forestry Commission fishing permit along with a valid rod license.

Fortunately this part of Hampshire is renowned for its fishing and it does have some excellent private lakes and fisheries available both in and around the forest area stocking a whole range of freshwater species including Roach, Rudd, Tench, Pike and Dace for example.

Of course not all fishing is restricted to the fresh water variety so if you want to add a bit of diversity to your fishing experience you could try your hand at sea fishing as well (see the boat trips page) which is available from Lymington Quay.
