Longdown Dairy Farm - A Family Fun Day Out In The New Forest

Longdown Dairy Farm is situated on the Outskirts of the national park close to the Otter and Owl centre and is an excellent example of the blend between a working farm and a family attraction.

Quite often if you live close to the countryside you tend to take things for granted but if you spend life mostly in the city, then Longdown Dairy Farm will have the little kiddies squealing with delight at the animals here (but not as loud as the piglets I’m sure), and even the parents are not exempt with the odd ahhh here and there as well.

There is a good selection of common (and some not so common) farm breeds here that you can come and see including a massive and friendly shire horse.

Getting close to the animals here is not just about looking though as there are a lot of active feeding sessions when the kids can bottle feed the kids (bay goats, excuse the pun) as well as the calves in the cow shed.

The farm also has regular small animal handling sessions where the children (and grown ups) are actively encouraged to handle the baby chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs which are also available to purchase if you want to take one home.

You can also buy pigs, weaned calves, goats, chickens, turkeys, and ducks here too, but you will need to know what you are doing as the farm believes in the welfare of the animals and they are only sold to knowledgeable homes.
 
As well as the animals there are several other attractions here including a number of indoor and outdoor play area including the straw barn play area where the children can climb over the bales, and a trampoline area with trampoline for all age groups under 90's?.

And of course what farm would be without the outdoor play areas and tractor rides.

Longdown Dairy Farm also has its own little shop where you can buy gifts and souvenirs of your visit and on occasion local produce as well. There is also a good size tea room serving hot and cold beverages that is happy to warm up the very little visitor’s bottle or jars of food as well.

Longdown Dairy Farm is an excellent day out and the staff here are always courteous and eager to help.

Longdown Dairy Farm is generally open from 16th February to 2nd November,
Weekends in November and December
Plus: 13th to 21st December
